Black Heart
Black heart is the story of a divorce, but it is much more than that: it is a family drama, a coming-of-age tale about becoming a woman, about confronting the past and resolving the conflicts that stem from it. As to whether those resolutions are tentative or lasting… that remains to be seen. It is a gripping, high-octane thriller about the physical and psychological impact of trauma both past and present.
Keep an eye on the news for the upcoming release date. Until then, here is the official book blurb for my debut English-language novel, Black Heart.
The novel was translated by Austin Wagner.

The main character in Black Heart is Ria, a woman in her mid-twenties working at the telephone exchange in a Soviet mining town in Hungary. She is fed up with her painter husband’s life of debauchery, and in the autumn of 1979 makes the life-changing decision to divorce him. But it quickly becomes clear that there is a great deal more at stake than just her relationship. Her mother-in-law, Edit, is hell-bent on revenge, and it’s not just the apartment or her son’s dignity she’s after: it’s everything Ria has, including her five-year-old son.
Forced to fight with whatever means she can drum up, Ria begins digging into the past of both her husband and her mother-in-law. She’ll stop at nothing to uncover the answers to her questions, will leave no stone unturned – even if some of them are hiding secrets so dark she could have never imagined them even in her wildest nightmares. As time races on and the tension builds to a tipping point, Ria must venture into the deepest circles of human wickedness. The question is: can she find a way back?
